Do you remember the friendly uncle who used to visit you often? Do you remember how he used to offer you sweets? Do you remember how one day he asked for something in return? Do you remember how he touched you and life was never the same again? I know you do remember or I bet You know someone who relates to this story.

More than 53% of children in India have faced sexual abuse. It robs a child of their childhood and innocence. It makes THEM feel guilty of it. It makes them emotionally vacant. Most of them never, absolutely NEVER go on to be NORMAL again. More than 20,000 cases of child sexual abuse are reported EVERY YEAR  in India. And then there are cases that go unreported. You know why? Because of fear. Because children are too scared to tell it even to their parents. What if your child was trying to say something and you didn’t notice? What if your child was a victim of sexual abuse? What if it’s too late?

Has you child been making excuses to avoid going to school or some particular place? Does he/she purposely evade meeting someone? Is he/she uncomfortable around some people? Have they been having trouble sleeping? What if your child is trying to say something but you are too busy to notice?

Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) powered by Nobel Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (KSCF) has launched the #FullStop campaign. This video is a part of it.

Help your child through troubled times. Identify with them and their fear. Don’t let them burn in agony for the rest of their lives. Remember, most of the time it’s not a stranger who’s doing it. Children rarely lie about it. When your child opens to you, admire their courage and immediately hug them. Your embrace will make them feel secure. Make a resounding promise to protect them forever.

While you have been reading this, 1 child has been sexually abused somewhere. What if it was your child? 1 out of 7 children are sexually abused. What are the chances of your child?

Share this with your loved ones to educate them against child sexual abuse before it’s too late.
