It was just a regular day for the Jetstar Asia flight 3K583 on April 22, from Singapore to Yangon, when something amazing but unusual happened. One of the passengers, a pregnant Myanmarese woman, started experiencing labor cramps.

The crew onboard the aircraft, as well as 3 doctors, jumped into action immediately, to help the woman deliver her baby safely, and without any complications. Their efforts were quite successful, as a completely healthy baby weighing six pounds and seven ounces was delivered, just as the plane was landing at the airport.

Filled with joy and delight, fellow passengers broke into a round of applause, congratulating the mother. Overwhelmed with the level of attention and care she received, it was then that she decided to name her baby son “Saw Jet Star“, in honor of the airline! “Saw” after Jetstar’s Customer Service Manager “Saw Ler Htu“, and “Jet” after the airline. Also, the mother’s family name happens to be “Star“, as well. We can only imagine the hard time the kid’s gonna have in explaining how he was named when he grows up!

The mother and baby were rushed to the nearest hospital as soon as the plane landed, and have since been discharged, with both in perfectly good health. In a grand gesture, the airline also gifted baby supplies worth $1,000 to the boy’s family, as well as flight vouchers to the doctors for their assistance in delivering the child.

Our crew is trained to respond to all kinds of events on our aircraft, and we’re proud of the way they assisted with the help of generous doctors onboard to ensure the safe delivery of our youngest ever passenger.

— a Jetstar spokesperson said.

You might think that naming your baby after an airline is utterly ridiculous, but when you consider the amazing care and service she received at 40000 feet above ground, you can understand why it overwhelmed her, winning her heart! Besides, this is actually not the first time something like this has happened, as a mother from South Delhi had given birth in an Uber car in December 2015, and ended up naming her baby after the cab company. Yep, baby Uber! We’d love to see him try to explain that to his friends at school, later on!
