The time when you reach home and just can’t wait to snap the hook open… Yes! The bliss of freeing your breasts from the chains of a bra; all womankind relates to this and now even scientists have come to agree with it.
Bras are those expensive garments that women have been asked to wear underneath their clothes to support their breasts and most importantly, keep their nipples from gawking at people. With time, bras have gone to be more than just an undergarment. They have become a style statement, coming in all kinds of colours and embellishments. But, what some scientists discovered is going to change your perception for the good.
13th October, National No Bra Day is celebrated to promote breast cancer awareness and educate women about how important it is to get them checked regularly. However, there is a huge debate on whether to wear one or not. Some people believe wearing a bra provides support and prevent sagging whereas others swear by the opposite. So, what does it actually do?
A study conducted by a sports medicine specialist from Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Besancon in Besancon, France, Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon suggested that women should get rid of their bras. Oh yeah!
The study was conducted on 330 women volunteers, aged 18-35, over a period of 15 years. It was found that the women who didn’t wear bras had a 7-millimetre lift of their nipples every year. Also, their breasts got firmer and their stretch marks disappeared.
The study revealed that wearing a bra prevents breast tissues to develop freely thus causing more sagging and deterioration.
However, Rouillon pointed out that the study does not speak for all women. It was conducted on a certain number of women and up to a certain age limit. This may have variations and women should not blindly toss away their bras.
I suggest you try it out before saying no to bras. Do not wear a bra for a few days and try and mark the difference. Does your body feel free? Do you feel uncomfortable in public? Have your breasts sagged or lifted after the experiment? Note the changes. You won’t know it until you have tried it. Every woman is different and results may vary. So, don’t worry! 😀
