In an age where we rush to judge, label, and stereotype at a moment’s notice, and package everything up in a neat little package of sensationalism, just to appeal to the masses, Radhika Apte is someone who’s been breaking these stereotypes, and going where most people are too ignorant to go. You might not have heard or known about her, but that’s because she’s been staying away from the mainstream glamor on purpose, choosing to let her work define her! Take note, cause she’s not the pouty-faced starlet blowing kisses at her fans while walking down the red carpet, she’s a woman of substance, confidence, and depth, speaking volumes through her work. With a stellar list of performances that will make you see her in a different light in every role, she’s been winning hearts and breaking barriers constantly.

And she has done precisely that once again, in a new video released by the YouTube channel Blush, aptly titled “Find Your Beautiful“. It’s a video that starts off with her cleaning her room, feeling deeply nostalgic as she goes through all her things, and then wondering what she would tell her 17-year-old self if she could meet her then.

Today’s society constantly takes it upon itself to tell girls what they should and should not do, where they should and should not go, how they should dress, and so on. In the process, it’s been gradually poisoning the childhood of young girls and corrupting their lives, by molding them into what it wants them to be, not who they are. In light of this, what Radhika goes on to say is something that every Indian woman would want to say to her younger self, and what every Indian girl needs to hear, especially right now.

Whether you are skinny or what is called “plus size”, choose to wear shorts or skirts, smoke, keep your hair long or chop it off, it’s your choice, and you’re beautiful because of that. Nobody else has the right to judge you, or tell you that you’re not.

#FindYourBeautiful, girls and ladies, cause you are.
