Doordarshan is now nostalgia and this song is a part of our childhood. Promoting our country’s integrity and portraying our unity in diversity, Mile Sur Mera Tumhara will always be remembered with a sweet affection. The who’s who of India came together to create this video which had the lyrics in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Marathi, Marwari, Oriya, Punjabi, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

It featured Mallika Sarabhai, Bhimsen Joshi, M Balamuralikrishna, Kamal Hassan, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Revathi, Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Lata Mangeshkar, Sharmila Tagore, Prakash Padukone, Wahida Rehman, Shabana Azmi, Om Puri, Arun Lal, Narendra Hirwani, Ramanathan Krishnan, S Venkataraghavanand many others.

Beginning with Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi and concluding with little kids running in the tricolor and the Ashoka Chakra hovering over them, Mile Sur Mera Tumahar was given the near-anthem position since its first telecast on Independence Day, 1988.
