Be it a teacher, your mom or dad, stars, politicians, social workers or cricketers, they are sure to instigate you to move forward in spite of difficulties. They have certainly recreated the Nation and made us proud. Have a look at these people as role models we would like to have!
Best known as Shahenshah of Bollywood, the way this actor has made his marks starting from being a radio announcer to stepping into politics to what he is today, have made us astounded. He had to go through lots of struggle when he got his first success with the film Zanjeer. He faced rejection from All India Radio for his voice. Famous directors like Manmohan Desai was not willing to take him in the films. The way this actor has been through all odds to the peak of success figure him as our role model.
It was Kishore Kumar who has successfully made his appearances in Bollywood as a comic hero besides being a singing star. He got his first break in his singing career in Bombay Talkies (1948) and has made a successful mark in Bollywood with his debut in Andolen (1951). Initially, he was not paid for his work which demoralised him besides facing lots of hardships with his personal life. Starting from small roles to his unmeasured success both in films and singing make him our role models.
This is the figure that comes first in our mind with selfless service to humanity. She felt God’s call at the age of twelve and left home at 18 to serve people with the Missionaries of Charity. The way Mother devoted her entire life to serving the people inspire us to follow her path and at the same time make her the role model.
One of the World’s finest creator of cinema Satyajit Roy had made his talent seen everywhere. Famous for Pother Panchali, this man has made astounding glory in the world of Indian cinema. The unmeasured talent he has shown in his film career as a director with the success lists makes him the role model.
Who does not know him? The famous poet Rabindranath Tagore, one of the most renowned in Bengali literature who have successfully made his marks as a novelist, educator and an early advocate of Independence. Winning Nobel prize in 1913, he is not only the author and poet of Bengal but of the World. However, Tagore’s family life was never a bed of roses. He had to face innumerable deaths of his closed ones in front of his eyes. This did not spare his children too. The way he has made through in spite of all odds thus becoming the world-wide author and poet, make him the role model of Bengali Literature.
One of the most famous spiritual leaders of Bengal, Swami Vivekananda taught his fearless ideas to the youth. He taught us how to confront difficult situations in courage and deal with them boldly. He later founded Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, being the greatest disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. This great man suffered extreme poverty before the mission was founded beside loosing his father at that point of time. In spite of the requirements of his own family he worked hard to serve food to the poor having joined later as the freedom fighter to face British and save India. He is the role model of all the youth after having guided us to the path of self-respect and wisdom.
Mahatma Gandhi, suitably known as the Father of the Nation, taught us principles of love and care for the poor and needy. He pointed out how to hold your patience at the most difficult situations in times of Independence. Gandhi’s Satyagraha movement launched have shown us his philosophy for non-violence. Having fought fearlessly for freedom in spite of the torture from British, he will always be the role-model of the free Nation!
The first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru worked actively as the leader of Nationalist Movement in times of Independence. He is best known for his unmeasured love for the children for which his birthday is celebrated as Children’s day on the 14th of November. During the time of his freedom fighting, he has been to jail several times yet achieved success to give India independence. The way he fought hard besides being the Statesman of those times make him our role model.
Best known as the iron lady, Indira Gandhi fought immense challenges which came her way during the freedom of the country. Being elected as the fourth president of the Indian National Congress in 1959 and later as minister of Information and Broadcasting, Gandhi encouraged to launch inexpensive radios and to start a family planning program. She fought boldly for the Pakistan war too. India would like to have her as role model for her courage to deal with difficulties boldly!

Being a bicycle parts manufacturer in his teenager, this man made his mark as a Group Managing Director of the Bharti Enterprises, the telecom giant, now being the owner of one of the largest telecom companies in India and world’s largest mobile operator, Airtel. He has been awarded Padma Bhushan in 2007, India’s third highest civilian honour. In spite of his father’s death in the year 1992, he moved on to achieve what he wanted to! He never lost focus. This man did not have a smooth life throughout but made his ways through being one of the richest personalities in India. He is our role model!
