2. Arunachal Pradesh – Apong

Apong or Rice Beer is the traditional alcoholic drink of the state, made from fermented rice, or millet and preserved with Bhoot Jolokia peppers, the hottest in the world! I guess you can already imagine the kind of kick THIS Beer is gonna give you!

3. Bihar – Litti Chokha

This incredibly popular Bihari food consists of dough balls, made from whole wheat flour and stuffed with Sattu. They’re then mixed with several herbs and spices and roasted over a slow fire with a generous slathering of Ghee, and served, piping hot, with some spicy chutney or yogurt!

4. Goa – Sorpotel

Sorpotel is a dish relished not only in Goa but all over the world! This exquisite dish with a delightfully spicy gravy and tender pork pieces is best enjoyed with an alcoholic drink to wash it down, preferably, the Goan Feni itself!

5. Gujarat – Khaman Dhokla

This delectable dish is a combination of a spongy, fluffy steamed cake made from rice and chickpeas, served with Imli or Pudina chutney. The Khaman dhokla has become extremely popular as a tasty appetizer or even as a snack for any time of the day!

9. Tamil Nadu – Idli Dosa Sambar

A close friend of mine used to tell me about how she used to have Sambar every day, and got tired of it. Well, it’s actually an amazing dish, if you don’t have it regularly. Synonymous with South India, the scrunchy Dosas, served with steaming Sambar and Idlis make an amazing meal, combined with the Coconut chutney and Vadas!

10. Telangana – Mirchi Ka Salan

Telangana might be a newly formed state, but this authentic Hyderabadi dish is anything but new! An aromatic chili and peanut curry, best served with Rice or Chapatis, this is usually made with the long spicy chilis available anywhere and everywhere, and is perfect for any get-together if you’re a fan of hot-spicy foods like me!
