Mr Bachchan paid 30 lakhs out of his own pocket to come to Kolkata, and perform the National Anthem before the start of the match! The superstar booked his own flight, paid for his hotel fee, and bought tickets for the match, refusing to take a single penny, CAB President Sourabh Ganguly said!

Insisting on rehearsing for his performance before the match, the actor spoke very less, and was the picture of concentration, focusing on the song he had to deliver! And deliver he did, in his booming baritone voice!

In what can only be understood as an attempt to garner publicity, short filmmaker Ullhas PR has filed a police complaint against the Bollywood superstar, accusing him of taking more time than mandated while singing the national anthem! Ullhas, the same man who had lodged a complaint against Aamir Khan after the release of PK, said

Amitabh Bachchan sang the national anthem in 1 minute 10 seconds while the mandatory time is 52 seconds. One can take two or three seconds more or less while singing the national anthem but Amitabh crossed the mandated time limit.

Ullhas also complained that Bachchan had used the word “Sindhu” in place of “Sindh” while singing the anthem.
